Miserável

O noivo, como noivo, é repugnante:
Materialão, estúpido, chorudo,
Arrotando, a propósito de tudo,
O ser comendador e negociante.

Tem a viuvinha, a noiva interessante,
Todo o arsenal de um poeta guedelhudo:
Alabastro, marfim, coral, veludo,
Azeviche, safira e tutti quanti.

Da misteriosa alcova a porta geme,
O noivo dorme n'um lençol envolto...
Entra a viuvinha, a noiva... Oh, céu, contem-me!

Ela deita-se... espera... Qual! Revolto,
O leito estala... Ela suspira... freme...,
E o miserável dorme a sono solto!...

poet Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
