Mirror. Poem by vanessa feliciano

Mirror.

Rating: 5.0

Your life is like a mirror
soiled and cracked in time but standing
knocked over and stepped on
but it survived the landing.
passerby's only see
your broke and scathed reflection
and as the mirror splinters
great thoughts of you lessen
they see whats on the outside
there not looking through the cracks
not caring to look inside
and see who's staring back
its a shallow representation of feeling
how dare they say they know?
How can they judge off a glimpse?
They haven't seen this person grow.
That terrible broken reflection
is nothing like its creator.
but they judge visuals
not realizing whats living and breathing is greater.
Believe what you see
but not what you hear
That cant be easy
when visuals aren't clear
Stop looking with your eyes
Start seeing with your soul
avert from the reflection
and see this person as a whole
then maybe you'll realize
Glass can be broken
but its hard to maim gold.
