Miranda From Geelong Poem by Francis Duggan

Miranda From Geelong

On Saturday evening in the pub she joins in the sing song
The beauty with shoulder length blond hair Miranda from Geelong
In her mid to late twenties blooming in her life's prime
The type of girl who has inspired love poets to song and to rhyme.

The love for her in big Johnny's eyes his greatest dream in life
Is that beautiful Miranda will one day become his wife
But his love for her is unrequited love he has asked her out for tea
But when she declined his offer a disappointed one was he.

So charming and unpretentious and one without conceit
She never goes unnoticed when she walks down the street
Even ageing fellows at her look she looks quite attractive one might say
perhaps the most beautiful looking single young woman living in the Town today.

With her male and female friends Saturday evening finds her in the local bar
And she sings along with the others and Jimmy on guitar
Enjoys the hour of revelry and leads in the sing song
And there a happy glint in the bright blue eyes of Miranda from Geelong
