Midsummer Night's Dream Poem by Ann Mckeeman

Midsummer Night's Dream

today the trees are in full leafy glory
their varigated greens a blanket nature-knit, stretching before my devouring gaze…
flowers bursting, a slow and sensuous rainbow…
bushes erupting, gleefully adding their hues to the unfolding symphonic balance…
this is the moment..between the youthful spring..she, waking, unsure of where she will step next,
and the aging winter, tread-worn and ready for sleep…
this is the woman..the fullness thereof…ready for whatever may come- storm or sun…feast or famine…
vine ripened, weighty with an air of expectancy…
waiting for the music to begin…
the glorious spinning harmonies of the universe
(her - the one a girl dreams to be..she- whom the crone wistfully remembers)
…the heady smell of rich good earth and grass bruised underfoot…of lilacs and roses in the breeze…
..this is the surity which carries and sustains the life we continue…
the very breath …this is the substance that we see but remains without a name…
(…love…)
