Midnight Train Poem by Weldon Davis

Midnight Train

Rating: 4.0

There is a sadness in my eyes
I need not explain
A lonesome whistle blows in the background
A midnight train

Midnight train
Steaming along the tracks
Taking it's load to distant destinations
No reservations for that
Just a simple task

You look for the conductor
Yeah so loudly and proudly
You ask
What is the meaning of it all?
Where to haul it all?
Alas!

An unsaid understanding
One passenger to another
Embracing such concepts
As child does a mother
Latching on
Depending on it's existence
To make it all sane
The sadness in my eyes
As I describe
The midnight train
(In my soul)
