Midnight Cry Poem by OLUSEYI OLUSEUN AMOO

Midnight Cry

Rating: 5.0

Our nation has been infected with the virus corruption
Hindering it from fulfilling its future ambition
It has been destroyed beyond redemption
With no hope of having good people in the nation
Hours, minutes and seconds are turning into eons
Leaving no opportunity to delegate on every decision

Our nation is waiting patiently to regain its lost freedom
Hoping to be ruled by leaders with great wisdom
It has been tagged, "the suffering kingdom"
With no hope of looking like its old precious form
Good moments are varnishing like food eaten by worms
Not leaving behind a handful of crumbs

Our nation has gotten everything good going wrong
We have no idea of the class the country belong
The patriotism of the people is no longer strong
The true citizens have no hope of being carried along
They have being lonely, weeping all day long
Singing a very sorrowful hopeless song

Our nation has lost the reasons for its existence
With no hope of accomplishing excellence
Its citizens are living under beautiful pretense
They cannot enjoy their supposed independence
Leaders continuously ditch their essence
Consistently hoarding their benevolence

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Chinedu Dike 03 March 2017

A country abundantly blessed with liquid gold, other mineral and human resources; since independence has continued to drop every hurdle in its political and socio-economic race. With much fortunes and potentials, notoriously the nation relentlessly wallows in the throes of economic woes. Lovely piece of poetry, focussed and factual. Thanks for sharing Oluseyi.
