Mid Summer Poem by Seshendra Sharma

Mid Summer

A tree raised he voice and called me
Spread her cool shade
Like a mat of flowers
And welcomed me -
A bird in the blue
Changed into a dot
In the hut of an oppressed man
Rolled a drop of tear
Sweat raised its hands
And prayed to the summer
Wished that sky should become
Pregnant with a rainbow -
Drinking sun in the garden
Grapes grow robust;
At the touch of the teeth
Juice bursts forth -
Love bought wounds
Paid with the coin of heart,
In the end to become
A solitary wayfarer in the fair of life -
In the storms of stars
That blow in the nights
Dreams jump and dance like boys and girls;
Boats sail in the streams of mid-summer darkness -
