Message In A Bottle Poem by David Thomas

Message In A Bottle

A Message in a bottle
lost, lost far at sea
the afternoon naps
and the lazy reactions
have stranded me on this
this island of dreams
and i'm afraid i may be stuck here
sitting on this block
but i was given a bottle
some paper and a pen
i made the best of it
and i wrote you this note
whomever you may be
i'll be waiting
resting here until you
or someone else comes
and is willing to save me
i cannot swim away alone
for these sharks i fear
are very very starved
and i cannot live hear forever
having no food nor shelter
from the insurmountable weathers
and storms that may come to pass
so please whomever you may be
i'm counting on you
i'm counting on you to save me
so please
don't let me down
take this message in this bottle
and through whatever may come about
let me one day meet you
if not then farewell
i guess i will sit here still
on this block of anxious blanktivity...
