Merry-Go-Round Poem by Jon Alan

Merry-Go-Round

Merry-Go-Round

The music plays
The Merry-Goes-Round
Hear the laughter?
Delighted screams of children wallowing in their dreams?

Enjoy it while you can young ones
Soon there'll be no laughter left
Soon your eyes will make you deaf
To the things that made you smile.

Soon the wind will blow through your ears
And your eyes will fill with agonies tears
As the years grow harder
And the truth grows deeper

Where is the Love that once was your keeper?
Where is the music of the Merry-Go-Round
And the music of your laughter?
Where is the magic you once found in your imagination?

Now, where once you screamed with delight
You cry in the hollow and lonely night.
Where are your hopes and your dreams young ones,
Now you will learn to fight.
