Memories Made Poem by gabby sutherland

Memories Made

memories made
are hard to forget
like a first kiss
or nervousness
at something new
losing one
losing two
losing three
it affected me
tears of sorrow
a note
crumpled in my hand
a look
directed my way
a ride
me and him
i hope i never forget
because they are me
him leaving
him cheating
falling in love
him dying
me crying
Walmart memories
her leaving
me crying
her glassy
brown eyes
smell eggs
smell salt
smell medicine
three left
one behind
tears for months
heartbreak straight
feeling of lost hope
feeling of sinking
in a pit of memories
a flash
then i'm sucked back in
lost in my own mind
hoping for a switch
to stop time
to relive that moment
change it
because i would
if i could

little glances
remind me
of all
that used to be
a strong smile
a soft caress
not meant for me
losing life
beating Death
with a stick
from a hickory tree
one log
on stream
one dream
snatched like candy
from a small child
snatched like a princess
from a high tower
walking in a field
of lovely flowers
black-eyed susans
favorite flowers
memories made
are hard to forget
like a blanket
or a story
or a lullaby
letting you dream.
