Memories Poem by Maryanne Richards

Memories

Memories, they come and go
Here and there to and fro
Some take us back to the good times
And happy we are to go.

They say it's good to remember,
I often wonder why,
The good times are good of course
But the bad times make me cry.

Is it possible not to register
To live so fully now
That once a thing is done and gone
You remember, but it has no power.

To look back has no value,
One will find no answeres there.
What part does memory have to play
In a creative life ahead.

For it is all that's dead and past
And living must go on.
The action of not knowing
Allows the Universe to act.

Then thinking will be there or not
And memory will have its place.
So really it is up to us,
Or the past will live again.

Very thoughtful poem, remembering the past helps us to not repeat the negative things we've gone through already. Good poem, I like it. RoseAnn
