Memories Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Memories

Responsible for events in the past
Why does it hurt so bad?
I could've loved you right
If only I had the opportunity
I would shower you with love and affection
Creating mental images I hurt inside
I start to go through an act of obsession
Disguising pain I try desperately to hide
I surrender in thoughts
Letting them take control where I can no longer manage
As I let tears run down my face
I nearly cried my heart out, Pretending to stay strong
Eventually I'll start to break
Seems my heart can't take no more of this on going heartache
How I let you slip through my fingers
Got me thinking of you in heavy rotation
To deal with the pain is unbearable
Though the retained memories keep me going on
