Memoirs Of A Journey

Rating: 5.0

The bag was packed
The flight ticket was folded neatly in one of the conspicuous part of your vanity bag
You were ready to depart;
Depart from the city, my apartment, may be my life…..
Leaving an empty vacuum…..

The mood in the room was somber
The rain was incessant and so were the tears
Tears of melancholy, tears of hope
Clinging on to you tightly
The sound of silence was unbearable, unbreakable
Shattering the silence of the night
The relentless time was marching ahead,
Galloping towards the next day of the destined journey
How I wished I could stop the clock and time would come to a standstill
And then in a matter of few hours you had departed
Departed from the city, my apartment, may be my life………
As if someone had conspired

The apartment looked like a prison
And yet I volunteered to be a prisoner where my soul is trapped
Your memories are all over the place
Your recorded voice
Your half page of scribbled lines on the notepad;
The lipstick mark on your coffee cup;
The strand of your hair on the pillow;
Your warm breath;
Your eyeliner, mascara, your make up kit, your hair pin;
The smell of your body on the bed sheet;
The smell of your perfume in the closet
You had departed
Departed from the city, from my apartment…
But you are omnipresent in my life.
