Melencolia Ii Poem by Chidiebube onye Okohia

Melencolia Ii

From thee flows th' breath of wisdom
Of peace, love, faith and charity
Of angelic prowess and volunteered-martyrdom
And supernal blessing of long-lived amity

But failed, I have, to show mine gratitude
I've been strayed by the revelry of life
Perchance, I should resist th' intoxication of strife
And to thee, O lord, be everlastingly glued

In deepest sadness I recline
Easing out distemper to eyes of the fix'd
But let not, my naked shadows be revealed
And pave way for the ragged plains of mine road to thine

Thou should open my mind to th' sooth
And cast my melancholy into extinct
And please lead me to thine hallowed precinct
So that I can fulfill the voyage of my youth.
