Meerkat On Guard - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Meerkat On Guard - Lincoln Park Zoo

There is guarding duty to do.
Into us meerkats - built in trait,
Even here at Lincoln Park Zoo,
Where predator threat is not great.
But guarding is still instinct stuff,
No matter the time or the place.
Yes, humans seem harmless enough,
But ev'ry day there's loads to face.
And some weird humans we have met.
Oh we're so cute the humans say,
And want to take us as a pet.
Strangers we bite, friendlies we spray.

Feel free to look and take some pix.
That's as close as we wanna mix.
