Meal Deferred



Africa

What happens when a meal's deferred?
Does the child dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or starve like a dog–
And then die?
Does he crumble and fall over-
like a starved puppy?

Maybe he just sags
like a heavy beast.
Does He really exist?
