Me Poem by Heatherlee Eldridge

Me

Rating: 4.9

Know me
how could you know me
this wall, so big, gigantic it seems
with each brick I built this wall around me
layers and layers of hell around me
this wall, so big, gigantic it seems
with each brick I lay it suffocates me
trapping me deeper so I can not see
this wall, so big, gigantic it seem
higher and higher it envelops me
smothering, stifling so I can not scream
this wall, so big, gigantic it seems
I scratch, I dig as it encapsulates me
how could you know me
this wall, so big, gigantic it seems
layers of bricks to isolate me
'I was here'
this wall, so big, gigantic it seems.....

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote a version of this in 2007 in Pembroke Hospital, where I was being treated for BPD, and beeing diagnosed with Bipolar as well. I also wrote the poem Bipolar within the same time frame. At that time My suport system was breaking down and my relationship was failing and felt that know one knew me. Then in 2011 I revised the poem. My relationship ended, and in the depth of my heartache and devistation came this poem and a few others.

Hi Heather, Very powerful, it draws you in and I think we all share the same wall. Thanks for reading some of my poems. Brian
