Me Poem by Flavia Richardson

Me

Gum in your hair
Pebble in your shoe
Sweat under your armpit
Naughty hair tangled in your loins
Ingrown nail you cannot use to scratch
Public outburst
Exhaust air blown in your face
Smell of gasoline
Icing on a cake
Semi-dried clothes pulled in a hurry
Muddy field soil on your legs
Smudged grass on your kneecaps

The moist gum you elongate between your fingers
The little stone you put in your memory box
The way your body feels when liberated after a day's work
The slight tickle you secretly adore
Smooth rubbing that pleases your skin
Release of body fluids when nature calls
The way you experience epic events
The thing you always crave when fuelling
The reason why you buy cakes
Humidity that makes your skin sensitive, prone to touch
The pleasure of scabbed mud, reminiscent childhood,
Joy of rolling down a hill

Me, the optimistic opportunistic mystic creature
Craving addict, obsessing over candy floss
Obscene feeling in the obscurity of night
Living under your sheets, in your undies, under your nails, in your hair, in your head, in your imagination
Fantastic monster ripping your commonality and normality
Stripping the allure of friendship
Brushing old tears and unfulfilled dreams
Naked figure in the blinding light
Movement of fascinating surreal existence
Crashing through your windows and filling your house
Your car
Your office
Your life
