May They Rise Poem by Stephanie Eve Kane Arado

May They Rise

I have a vision of a blue balloon
Floating against a bluer sky
White string dangling toward the earth
Letting go I watch it rise

Reminds me of the friends I’ve known
Friends who walked right by my side
Like the rounded blue balloon
I like to watch as each floated by

One girl studied business who liked to smile and scheme
One girl liked technology and worked hard to reach her dreams
One girl wore big black shoes and liked to paint the sky
May they float on beyond my vision ever rising high

Our lives no longer intertwine yet I think about them still
Reaching flying floating high outside my window still
Although balloons go to a place that I may never see
I know my friends are rising high, and this makes me feel free
