Maximum Madam Poem by Chris Jibero

Maximum Madam

maximum madam in wantonness
institute of skewed parochial vision
aggregated in personal aggrandizement
flaunted in a bogey house
with pernicious, faulty foundation laid
on arbitrary rent increases waved
at cowed faces abused
like imbeciles sitting uninvited
at a universal conference of the haughty

landlady, a word apt and witty
an admixture of imperishable
and perishable
land and lady
one and the same
land begets the lady
and lady begets a pale property
that shall eat the lady
earth to earth
dust to dust
a malleable mixture
cultivate dust, eat dust, defecate dust
for all is dust
that returns to dust

quit notice served wrongly
summons follows swiftly
a retiring psychiatrist
needs a retired house
to dispense retired medical services
in a retired neighbourhood
to retired patients
as if retirement is akin to lunacy

number one patient wheels in
maximum madam's man, an unknown soldier,
being mad at the slow but sure wheels
hews gates to fast track ejection
of law and, not done yet,
maximum madam reappears in tow
like an aide-de -camp parading
abuses: 'thief, useless, shameless'

maximum madam in quick march
impatient to hear judgement
breezes in in ealy morning madness
a hammer-wielding waster
mosquito nets yanked
window panes smashed
in deft hits like a markswoman

the ambushed calm
and maximum madam reappears like a ghost
in a slow march in reverence to impotent
gods, in broad daylight hush-attack
lunacy marshalled out in malice,
with earthenware dishes of fetish
garnished with guinea fowl feathers,
devil's delicacy, dropped at all entrances
like the demon's waiter
birds and rodents freely fed
merry and grateful to landlady
a word apt and witty
for the lady owns the land temporarily.
the land owns the lady permanently
