Masks Of Darkness Poem by Shqipe Prence

Masks Of Darkness

Rating: 5.0

Masks, masks, masks,
Foxy, clown, scarecrow masks…
Masks of all colors and of all hues,
Bright, pale, red, black, yellow, blue…
In the kingdom of lifeless faces,
Heartless, soulless, sinful human race,
All wear masks, all, in all places!

Some wear masks to stir up strife,
Some wear masks to make others suffer,
Some wear masks to ruin others life,
Some wear masks to make money…

It's easy to kill the others,
It's easy to spend others money,
It's easy…
It's easy…

In this kingdom of false and darkness,
There is neither love, nor being loved,
Only emptiness,
An empty being in the desert of self!

Once in my dream, ephemeral dream,
I briefly entered this world never seen,
What l have peered or deemed,
Deep into darkness without any light beam,
It was a frozen, a frozen place,
With death-rebirth masks on their face.
Afraid,
Afraid,
Afraid!

Will ever sun their naked face see,
In this awful place without any Life Tree?

'An empty being in the desert of self'. This particular line resonated in my mind, we all are in a desert of our own making, some using disguises and/or masks, trying to take what others have. Everywhere you look, seeing past the illusions, and lies in life, unmasking others to find yourself. Greed, killing, suffering, pain, ruining people's lives and taking their hard earned money, where will it all end? ? Will anyone be reborn from the tree of life, or must we continue to be frozen, never seeing the sun. All the pain and suffering in life can be unmasked, but what do we do with it then? Are there any solutions or just fear and death. A very thought-provoking poem Shquipe! You have mastered and gained insight into the heartless human race, very well done. Thank you for reading my poem: A Brokenness Inside, your comment was very enlightening, sometimes we need another's perspective to see how we have landed in someone else's mind through our poetry. You are very much appreciated, Shqipe. Thank you, RoseAnn
