Masks Poem by Akogun Ma.

Masks

Everyday I wear a mask,
ever since the day I had discovered
that I could change faces.

The true mask I wear hides behind the rest,
changing every moment to fit the guest.

The lover,
the intellectual,
the mischievous.

To name a few.

For no one know can see who I truly am,
for they can gaze upon the mask.
Only I can see the truth behind me.

Not strangers,
nor my friends,
or my family.

I hide my true emotion,
I hide my intentions,
I have hidden objectives.
All hidden behind such simple masks!

But I must wonder too,
what my friends hide beneath their masks,
what lies beneath the masks of my mother
and the masks of the strangers.

Will I ever know their true face?

But such is impossible,
for not even the mirror knows...
