Mask Poem by Brittany Bell

Mask

Mirror mirror
on the wall whose the prettiest
girl of them all? The girl you don’t show
all that often. Bring her out every
so often. Never let her go. Flip a coin,
two sides of it, just like you
Bring it attention
bring it to the front
tear down those barriers you may have
show me the face you have hidden
underneath all that make-up
show me the girl you can be
show me the girl you want to be
show me that you are the beautiful girl
that I see you as for you show me the face
not everyone sees, show me that girl once more
to prove that you aren’t just an emotionalist mask
show me that you are more than that
show me who you are once again

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
this poem is about a person hiding their true selves from the world they only show the real side of them to the people that matter even though to the world it would be better for the real part of them to be at the front but they seem to have lost themselves along the way
