Mary Magdalene Poem by Elizabeth Worthington

Mary Magdalene

Just a little closer than the rest--
Just a little closer than the rest
Just a little closer
Can't you smell that sweet Mimosa?
Just a little closer than the rest.

Just a little closer than the rest
Was the one who laid his head on Jesus' breast
Not for competition, but this one's submission
Made him just a little closer than the rest

Just a little closer than the rest--
The horse and the jockey
Just a little closer than the rest,
But not to the fence
Just a little closer
That's why this horse could go so
Just a little closer than the rest

Just a little closer than the rest
Just a little closer than the rest
So when Jesus rose,
The very first to know was
Just a little closer than the rest
