POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One hundred and thirty six years ago today, August 21st,1879, Our Lady appeared in Knock, Co. Mayo, Ireland. During the apparition at the gable end of the Church, the rain poured down as if blessings were being poured down from Heaven on Knock and the people of Knock. Ever since then, Knock has been a place of pilgrimmage for the well, the unwell, the sick and the suffering. So on this 136th anniversary, we remember all the suffering people throughout the world, and we ask Our Lady of Knock to intercede for them.
