Martial Melancholy Poem by Wright Palafox

Martial Melancholy

From where you waved farewell,
As of that ending moment,
Was it this liking or love
that struck my heart with torment?

Your occurrence, it still lingers,
Alluring in the vein of magic,
It was as if it happened –
So real, so raw… so tragic!

From where I saw you last,
The anguish I can never conceal,
For the tears you’ve unsheathed -
were meant for your final, solemn appeal…

Was it your gaze of acceptance
or was it your tearful confession?
Whichever it may be,
It was fleeting, yet true affection…

Portrayal of such altruism
renders this sleeping heart to adore
Despite such realities that void
Your sweet memory lives forevermore!

*we recognize your selflessness, for that we grant you the highest martial honors. you are beyond worthy to be deemed such a rank.' - in commemoration of your sacrifice: A.N. Last Line of Duty
