Marriage Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Marriage

It was a simple ceremony
In the marriage registrar's office
There were only two witnesses
No guests, no feast, no celebration

But who could have imagined
The power of that agreement
The longevity of that union
That kept two people bonded

Till one of them passed into eternity
Leaving the other one broken and buried
In memories, living in the past
Waiting for a reunion

It was not a perfect marriage
It was not a perfect life
But it was all that she had
It was all that she cherished

Sad but a beautiful write. There are struggles but missing a partner is very painful.
