Man's Inhumanity To Man! Poem by Liz Bedford

Man's Inhumanity To Man!

I can never understand mans' inhumanity to man, surely we should help wherever we can?
Wars and conflict, why should this be? We could with effort all live in harmony
Regardless of race, skin colour, or creed, this only happens because of greed
Of power and control, and self- gain, and the numerous ways to inflict dreadful pain
What can we do? I hear you say; I will not change these things; change these ways
I am but one, how can I stop these deeds and sorrows, someone will surely end these horrors? !
If we all thought like this it will remain the same, we can make a difference help make a change
Teach our children to be forthright and true, take pride and care in all that they do!
Make them see that it's ok to be different, to take the lead and learn from the parent
That if we treat each other with love and respect, this will help us understand, make us not neglect
That we all deserve to live in peace, tend our families and keep our beliefs
For we all have a purpose no matter how small, we are all humans and matter; but above all
With morals, values, compassion and pride, surely together we can all abide
Maybe some more wealthy than others, but still, with effort we can help our brothers
So listen to your conscience, be caring and true; and above all be compassionate in the things that you do
Because then you'll know that you have done things right, and if there's a need you'll take up the fight
To teach everyone that violence is futile, be good and pure and then life is worthwhile
