Man Poem by Ma Eugenia Carrasco

Man

A sunny day with clear blue sky it was,
When a neglected-looking child came to me,
And with a face of sadness and uncertainty,
He told me his short story, big for his age.

Soon he will be a man and his life is yet as an ownerless animal’s one,
He weeps, asks for help, does not support to live abandoned,
Orphan; neither hearth nor food, he wants to study.

His cloths, dirty and worn up by time, and some sandals; yet
His presence and look make me all sad.

His eyes, as still hoping his pain soon will disappear.
His sorrow must have been huge to go towards me.
Soon you’ll be a man! And yet, you’re right now that big.
