Mama Poem by Ramona Thompson

Mama

Rewrite of The Spice Girls song by the same name

From the forthcoming book, A Mother's Worse Mistake by Ramona Thompson

Never dreamed you would become my enemy
Never dreamed I'd have to set you free
Caught you in a place you knew you should't be
Just yesterday you crossed that line
I did't think you could ever hurt me so bad
I never thought you would become the nightmare I'd never had

No, I don't know why
I don't know how we became so misunderstood
So now with bitterness I close my eyes
Denied a mother's love
Singing sadly

Mama, I hate you
Mama, I no longer care
Mama, I hate you
Mama, no longer my friend
No, no longer my friend

I don't wanna hear it
Too damn old to be showin' off your butt
Leaves me ashamed now
Every little thing you say and do is so wrong to me
On your own
I think you need to to take some time
To learn how a real mother should be
Grow up and learn a sense of your own respondsiablity

No, I don't know why
I don't know how we became so misunderstood
So now with bitterness I close my eyes
Denied a mother's love
Singing sadly

No, I'm not sure I'll ever know why
No, I don't know why
I don't know how we became so misunderstood
So now with bitterness I close my eyes
Denied a mother's love
Singing sadly

Mama, I hate you
Mama, I no longer care
Mama, I hate you
Mama, no longer my friend
No, no longer my friend
