Malaya Poem by mifael llauderes

Malaya

The circumstances drew
Limits around this yard.
If I were a tree you’ll find my roots
jutting out beyond the hedge.
Not because I’m a rebel -
but more of this confinement being hard;
Not because I’m a prisoner -
but more of this freedom being barren.
