Make Peace Now Poem by Paul Sebastian

Make Peace Now

Before surprise catches you late
Make peace with your dad
Moment’s now, not when he’s dead
Too late for flowers, tears and regret

Before you realize it’s too late
Forgive: make peace with your mum
Gave life, nursed you at her breast
Taught life lessons, when wrongs done

Her love grew you to what you are
Stayed up for you from morn to dawn
Taught at her knees, saw you going far
Fed you her wisdom: now you’ve grown

Before separating to live own lives
Make peace with your siblings
Blood and memories knit your lives
In trials, help often comes from kin

Before treasured friends depart
Reconcile differences, make peace
Were there, when you needed a start
True friends’ sacrifice, gave you ease

Before life leaves this mortal coil
Make peace with your Maker
Paradise in the next by the wink of an eye
Live life worthwhile as purposed by Creator
