some may call him kaiser
and some may call him mahatma
but for all the Indians
he is only the father of India

the one who led us to freedom
without shedding much blood
who never waged a war
and always spread love

he drove the Britishers out of India
with his policies of truth and non-violence
he always favored the brave
but not those who were violent

in the glorious year of nineteen forty seven
India at last got independent
but in the next inauspicious year
we found 'him' dead

this personality is M.K. Gandhi
who didn't care about himself
but now you can understand that
why he was a mahatma, yourself
