Magical As Always! Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Magical As Always!

Rating: 5.0

Naked
as a statue

you stand
there

a Venus
come to life

wrapped
in thought

(I watch
enraptured)

until the doorbell rings

whereupon you yank
the table cloth

in one swift sharp motion
from the table

and attire
yourself in it

the cup & saucers
vase of freesia flowers

tremble slightly
but: stay in place!

And then to invisible applause
you step off stage

return…clutching
the long longed for registered letter.

The postman
smiles and whistles

down the crazy paving
his morning made.

You let
the table cloth fall

laugh

magical as all...
...ways!

naked and magical, but not like a statue - this is a vital poem... just as always
