Mad World Poem by jonathan ibbotson

Mad World

MAD WORLD
I sit in a field
Cold and wet
My
Body numb
I cannot move
The air chilled
Grounds
Frozen
Cannons
In the distance
BANG, BANG, BANG
I sit back where
All time is lost
In this
Mad world
I look down at these
Miserable faces
In
Front of me
Frozen to the bone
Fear pain sorrow
In their eyes
Alert
People moving
Running
Yelling
Screams for life
CRASH, CRACK, BOOM
The world
QUAKES
The Ground
ROARS
The air
SIZELES
I feel
Warmth, heat, fire
HOT
My body
Burning
Like an open flame
Running
I run
Trying to cling
To life
BANG
PAIN
Falling, falling
CRASH
I hit the dirt
Wet and Hurt
Shot
I’m shot
I lie on the ground
Frozen and cold
Gasping
My
Chilled air
Thinking just thinking
In this world
Our
Mad world
When
Someone just someone
Comes To
Find me
