Lunar Reflection Poem by Nicholas Peter

Lunar Reflection

I lit up a cigarette,
and looked up at,
her.

She was shining,
the translucent orb,
of pale white light.

A sky guardian,
mother of the night,
and protector of darkness.

She is beautiful,
and reminds me of a lover,
I knew.

Both are bright,
and look brilliant against the sky,
but one is forever and the other did fade.

We hung up the moon,
of raw love and passion,
hoping it would never go out.

But looking up now,
my cigarette burning away,
I think of you.

You waned,
and I waxed,
a perfect combo.

We hung up the stars,
but they all faded,
like my cigarette now,
and the way your eyes looked at me.

Wonderfully constructed with lingering lyrics. I invite you to read my poemsThe Breath Of The Moon, I am ever mesmerized by the silver shine. PEACE
