Lullaby For Money Poem by John W. McEwers

Lullaby For Money

In heaving yellow, strobes of red,
a man might upon, disrobed in bed
women shackled, tied to need,
reciting terms at once agreed,
a feathered wallet, a fattened wine,
stark desires melt in time
with panicked thrusts within the hour
broken, still, and spilling sour
floods upon the wilted sheets,
mingled sweat and curling feets
in throes of nested dark desire
musty meat and breathing mired
betwixt the oozing promise kept,
cash exchanged - and night unslept.
