Lucky One Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Lucky One

Lucky one

"Lucky you, "
I said
And the walls
And the ceiling
And everything around me
To the air and to the space
To the deepest of the depths
To every single cell in me
Each cell of my brain and body
Repeated, echoed:
"Lucky you! "

Did they know?
Did they understand?

I said so to the cockroach I killed
I smashed it
Then I found out
The poor creature was too weak…
Hungry in a poor man's house
In the place of Dervish
(Me)

The cockroach had not found anything to eat!

In my place
It is better to be dead than alive

In my place
Even the cockroach cannot find
A bite to eat…
