Lucky Animal Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

Lucky Animal

They never care for
The man made boundaries
The fences and barricades.
The tree along the border
Hugged with their hands
Each other with flowers and leaves
And fruits with sweet love!
The reptiles defied
The man made law
And moved this side
And that side and mated!

The animals too roamed
And they roared at humans
Clad in distinction ran
Challenging their fragile laws!

The animals smashed
The fencing and challenged
The humans to confront
To their open mating game!

The birds on either side
Flapped their wings
And screamed and glided
Over the clouds and earth
As the horizon and globe
Has no frontiers
To their free world!
The west wing took
The leaves to the east
And the east wind at night
Too took leaves to the west
With no passports
With no travel documents
And violated laws of dominions!
An adolescent on horse
Rode to the other side
Jubilant to see the birds
The animals, the trees
The leaves and winds
Free to enjoy freedom
But was caught by armed men
Armed with foreigners law
The passport Act
The anti terrorist law

And the boy in manacles
Brought to the human court
Where his horse was free
To walk in and around
The borders
And no law handcuffed it
