Loves Vicissitudes Poem by Damian Cranney

Loves Vicissitudes

Our spirits sometimes meet as one
I will love you till all the seas are gone,
But my need for you is more than ethereal
It stems of course from parts quite cerebral,
But manifests down to parts that are physical,
And the lust of the body takes over the spiritual.

When age creeps upon you, your thoughts are the same
As when, as a young man you were always game,
to play the field wildly with any cute thing,
your now an old roué if you fancy a fling,
Back then it was nudge, nudge he's a bit of a lad,
In your head you're no different, it's all rather sad

Who cares, when we love the world doesn't matter,
Mouths wantonly roving prohibiting chatter
Entwined in embraces and fluid exchanges,
Exploring our bodies like mountain ranges,
Clambering heights we have not dared before,
Let's go to the edge and together we'll Soar.

Last night I dreamed that we did just this,
I awoke from this tryst, in an ecstacy, of bliss,
And then in Joyful love, my waking found,
It was no dream, how my heart did pound,
Because I knew that you were there,
Loving me, more than I could hope or' dare.
