Is there knowable protocol 
Born in the heart
To guide us through the 
Terrain of the invisible

I evolve toward what she
Hopes to be perfection
But My heart gives away
My secrets and I ponder

Does total surrender 
Give or take the delight
And the remorse of love
Destroying the mystery 

That appears to be vital
To the progress of the 
Third life created between us
Being nurtured, fed, massaged

Delicate, fragile, strong, hopeful
With protocol we tread from
The known past bringing
actions taken for peace

Into our new unknown future
Circumventing difficulties 
We've suffered to avoid
The tragic outcomes we know 
All to well
