Lovely As A Shooting Star Poem by Milan Van Zuyen

Lovely As A Shooting Star

I look down upon this city
Like a many facetted jewel
Countless tiny suns dance in abstract glory
I stand on the knifes edge
That I may look across the abyss
That is this breath-taking night
Oh sweet surrender, take me away
To wash my soul in this sea
Of sparkling stars
And I, wishing without hope
That I had wings to fly
So I might soar without limits
In this fragment of heaven
Find that alas, I am ever earth bound
Whilst I am yet caught
In this unsavory mortal coil

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The beginning of this poem was actually based off of a comment i made to someone regarding an existing, and spectacular view. Unfortunately the person to whom I had made this eloquent comment towards was...let us say a much simpler man who couldn't grasp half of what I said-much less how grand the meaning nor the cleverness of it truly was. And so that the beauty could be properly preserved I went inside and used it to craft this lovely poem.
-If ever stupidity should be applauded, this is how it may contribute to the greater works in life.
