Lovelorn Poem by Ernestine Northover

Lovelorn

Rating: 4.9

Why are we so at daggers drawn,
With anger and with hate,
Why has this become a duel at dawn,
Why can't we now relate.

Why are you expressing so much scorn,
I sense that it's too late.

I'm feeling so totally forlorn,
Because your fury, won't abate.

Can't we be friends, my heart is torn,
Will you not negotiate,

I feel such pain, as if a thorn
Had come to penetrate.
the very centre of my heart, and borne
My hopes away. Oh, extricate
This agony. If only we could re-form.

I long for you, be again my mate.
And I'll no longer be lovelorn,
Oh, Please let's have a 'date? '.

Like the poem a lot Ernestine, but that last line was a little too crass for my taste. Very sweet sentimental piece though.9 from Tai.

Yes we are so overwelmed by the negative emotional aspect of a situation.Who's wrong? Who's right? that we only too often forget the most important emotion of all.LOVE. Another great poem from you Ernestine, Love Duncan
