Love Your Spouse Poem by Khairul Ahsan

Love Your Spouse

Rating: 4.8

Love is the essence of life.
Life is beautiful, when love is there.
It's we who mess up our lives, unaware.
Then we cease to see love, as our eyes
Fail to see it even when it comes not in disguise.
Our hearts fail to pass the cognitive test,
And our ears do not pick the tunes in right earnest.

All poets glorify love.
As I read the poems on love,
By teenaged poets or those even sixty and above,
I can only see the flames of passion
Run through their body and mind in unison.
Memories of silent, untold and platonic love
Of course haunt some minds, who mourn like a dove.

Love your spouse.
If half the love that I see in the poetry
were ushered on our spouses, sung like serenades,
Our homes would be just a heaven on earth
Love and compassion obviating all our dearth.
A loving look, a warm smile, a generous gesture,
Are some of the things that our spouses always desire.

Language of love is universal.
Saying 'I Love You' is not always essential,
As long as the message is pure and original,
Body language is enough to convey the feeling
And spouses can read the language with true meaning.
When spouses love each other, the children do know it,
Angels of peace descend on their home, with candles lit.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am amazed to read poems of love written by poets of different ages. Everybody looks at it through his/her own prism, but the yearning is same. Our souls seek, search and sanctify love. Our spouses are the ones we call our better halves. we chose to marry them because somewhere down the lane we met and loved. It is ironic if our love dissipates after marriage. Chemistry compatible or not, we must give it a try and see if love can mend our frailties.

An exquisite poem, seamlessly composed. I especially much-loved the last stanza; as everyone's definition of love varies. Well written poem, Mr. Ahsan!
