Love With No Return Poem by Leaking Pen

Love With No Return

I am a shade of myself
Skeleton bones frame my looks
Like forgotten dusty books
Lost on shelves, never to be read

Sixty years plus sailed through
The seas of life in a flash
Cooling down of volcanic ash
Fires of youth bid my last hurrah

Dreams and desires fade away
Taste of spice gone from my mouth
I wish I could revert north to south
Summer back my winters' heart.

Life passes me on my shady walks
It shuns its eyes from my ghostly looks
I remember once my beauty's hooks
When it lured wishful desires!

Last petal from my stem blown away
Northern winds left me cold and fray
Like fallen breadcrumbs on an empty tray
The maiden of life dusts me away

Of hope and despair, of triumph and defeat
Of fortune and loss, of love and hate
From all the spokes in man's fate
Toss of a coin, I have no control
The only one I keep,
When in my urn I sleep
'- Love With No Return-'
Sprouts a new seed
In my heart of green!
