Love Should Be Easy Poem by Loraine Lotter

Love Should Be Easy

Rating: 3.0

You’re all alone in the darkness on the deck.
It’s a Saturday night and you’re hurt again.
So I made you laugh at me because what the heck,
love should be easy.

She’s packing up to go on out with friends.
She’s leaving you behind because it’s girls-night-out again.
That’s when you took my hand and sat me down on the park bench
and said that you needed me.

You said that you’ve been crying in your sleep at night.
You know you need someone to help you make this right.
You’re breaking down because you’ve been holding on
when you know that she’s already gone.

You fake a smile when I try to make you laugh.
I say: “Come on now, it can never be so bad? ”
but your brown eyes turned and looked away,
like you couldn’t find the words to say.

She’s been gone for almost three years now,
and you’ve been moving on forward because somehow
you fell in love with someone else while in-between
the heartache and break-up scene.

and I’ve been missing your brown eyes all day.
Keep staring out the window just incase you come my way,
because you’ve been sending me roses as if to say:
“Hey, love should be easy! ”
