Love's Longlost Lullabies Poem by Kelly Zion

Love's Longlost Lullabies

Love is like a lullaby
that comes and goes with the time.
Love is like a freight-train song
that tells us that we belong,
but how long,
oh, how long?

We dance under the skies
and wait for the 'End of Time'
and why,
oh, why?

And then we try to fall in love
once we have overcome
and we wonder why it never works,
why we end up in a hearse,
why we get overturned.
Because 'it takes two to fight'
and it takes two to try.
So we cry,
and we cry.

Because no one wants to hear,
a thousand songs in every tear
fall down every year
and we only smile and say, 'That's a great song.'
How long,
how long?
