Love Part Two (Feb 11th,2003) Poem by Nicholas McDonough

Love Part Two (Feb 11th,2003)

Subordination of egoistic elements
Irradiation of instinct
Altruistic element becomes conscious and highly developed
Suffusing regions outside sexual sphere
Fusion with other psychic elements of allied character
Reinforced by allied emotions
Mingled with tenderness and patience as well as guarding and protecting elements
allied with impulses of spirituality and art
Many languages have no word for it
Failures to find it are remarkable and unexpected
Can be found where we least expect it
Interweaving of instinct with other elements of life is rare even among the most civilized
Assertions of sameness or similarity
Motivational force of conduct
Extended liberty of action from the absence of personal barriers
Fuses into one immense aggregate most of the elementary excitations of which are capable
Difficult to define as life itself, most likely for the same reasons
Brings together the primary elements
No word is so full of falsehood and fraud yet the thing it stands for remains
The extent of the abuse of the word is the measure of its inestimable values
If it is an illusion then life itself is an illusion
The most precious things lend themselves to the abuse of imitation in paint and paste and cheap alloys and substitutes of every sort
The great transforming and inclusive agency, the ultimate virtue of life
Stable and complex organization of the emotional life
Intellectual, refined, subtle
Emotional complex of predominantly forceful kind
Organized system of emotions and desires
Stable, regulative, inclusive
instinct with a profound rationality
Pain and the possibility of sorrow
Sorrow an joy cooperate and interpenetrate
One of the supreme things that make life worth living
When linked to some infinite purpose it can have the seriousness and depth of which it is capable
Mutual affection deepens foundations
Exaltation of the sympathies
highly complex
Motivational force of conduct
Main point in life
Matter of life and death
Inarticulate cries of emotion
Not universally known
Consciously altruistic
Physical impulse
Feeling for beauty
affection
Admiration
respect
Proprietary feeling
involved in life
gratification
longing
self-surrender
desire
unhampered
wish
free choice
union
association
conjunction
becomes highly developed
sometimes becomes detached
directed towards others
arises of need
association by free choice........
