Love Mocks Poem by Della Perry

Love Mocks

Love mocks
Laughs heartily in your face
Poppet, Sweetheart,
Hilariously frolics upon the lawn
Dancing dirtily, taunting foolishly
Alas, foolish never was in the vocabulary
Love is never where it appears to be
It is never forced, pushed into your face
Shoved under your nose
It doesn't need to be, not true love.
Flashing fluorescent lights!
Open your eyes, love
Lust can lure you into its abyss
The terrible place from which ghosts of hearts crack broken and limp.
True adoration is subtle in its approach
It has no price tag
Names in sands are washed away easily in time
It reveals itself in short, sharp bursts of respect
Kindness, warm tingling
Happiness and trust
A touch of a hand,
A wink of an eye,
A kiss on a nose.

my research: Poppet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The word poppet is an older spelling of puppet, from the Middle English popet, meaning a small child or doll. In British English it continues to hold this meaning. i was a bit uncertain about the meanings of parts of the first half of this poem, but the second half really takes hold in my mind. personally i find using the word love to be very useful, while, on the other hand, i wish several words were available to express the different meanings different people place on the word. my nose is begging for a kiss right now. any takers? ? like the poem. to MyPoemList bri :)
