i never heard thoreau’s quote
“find eternity in each moment”
until i was living it.
and still it left too fast.
every night was a festival
of love and life and sharing
everything with one other person.
a day at the beach, slowly drifting.
walking the sands as the moon peaked
above us. two souls becoming one.
three words lead to a kiss that
nothing will ever replicate.
unwrapping the time around those
three words was more exciting than
any christmas i remember.
following, the gap that seemed forever
with no hesitation, savoring handing that
gift back to her. the single happiest moment
from 19 summers. the night i found eternity.
